Book presentation

Thu., 12 September, 7 pm

In cooperation with Dr. Albers (Rimbaud Verlag Aachen) and the Verein zur Förderung der Städtepartnerschaft Aachen-Toledo e.V. we cordially invite you to a literary evening at our gallery at Hartmannstraße 6 on Thursday, 12 September, at 7 pm.

The first item on the programme will be Christoph Leisten's remembrance of the poet Ludwig Strauß (1892 - 1953). The German-Jewish literary scholar was one of the leading Hölderlin researchers and taught at the RWTH Aachen until 1934. In 1935 he emigrated to Palestine.

After that Jose Sanchez (Verein zur Förderung der Städtepartnerschaft Aachen-Toledo e.V.) reads poems by the Spanish-Catalan poet Màrius Torres (1910-1942).

Press release of the Rimbaud publishing house:
In his poems, the Catalan poet Màrius Torres (1910-1942), who died prematurely, turned his back decisively on the desolate reality of the Spanish Civil War, the early Franco dictatorship and his own everyday life marked by illness. His work, which is oriented towards symbolism, is characterized by a high degree of musicality and deals with death and the cosmos in a very individual, at the same time direct and abstract way. Almost forgotten after the war, Torres was rediscovered in the 1960s and 1970s and is today one of the classics of Catalan poetry of the 20th century. (Source: https://www.rimbaud.de/torres.html)
