The sculptor and graphic artist Binding, who was born in Munich in 1937, first learned at the Cologne Dombauhütte Steinmetz and sculptor.
At the Düsseldorf Art Academy he studied sculpture with Zoltan Székessy.
From 1965 to 1975 he was assistant to Professor Elmar Hillebrand at RWTH Aachen University.
After a visiting professorship at Northern Michigan University in 1976, he became a professor at the RWTH Aachen.
